  • “Mafqud wa-Mawjud: Lost and found in the Middle East…” hosts my public comments on the Middle East, both my research into the pre-modern Middle East and my commentary on more recent events. There one may find unexpected discoveries I have made, remarks on historical method, additional context for items in the news, and discussions of the state of Middle Eastern history.
  • “A Different Perspective on the Past: Digital History, Potentials and Pitfalls” records my reflections on what might be gained, and what lost, through applying digital methods to historical study. I write as both a DH practitioner and something of a skeptic confronted with the grandiose claims of Digital History’s promoters.
